CREXDATA and COLLARIS-2 Join Forces to Revolutionize Disaster Response with Drone Intelligence and Predictive Analytics

Date: December 02, 2025

The CREXDATA project is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the COLLARIS-2 network, marking a significant step forward in the integration of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and predictive data analytics for crisis management.

On October 21, 2025, the coordinators of the CREXDATA and COLLARIS-2 projects signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their collaboration. This agreement brings together CREXDATA’s cutting-edge “Prediction-as-a-Service” capabilities with the extensive drone expertise of the COLLARIS-2 network.

A Synergy Built for Extreme Conditions

The collaboration specifically focuses on the Weather Emergency Use Case, aiming to tackle the challenges of natural disasters such as floods and wildfires.

While CREXDATA develops real-time predictive learning models and simulation tools to anticipate critical situations, first responders increasingly rely on drones to access hazardous areas and assess damage. By bridging these two domains, the partnership aims to enhance situational awareness and decision-making when it matters most.

Key Areas of Cooperation

According to the MoU, the two projects will collaborate to foster the exchange of know-how and innovation in the following areas:

  • Drone Data & Mapping: Analyzing operational practices regarding the use of drones for mapping during the response to floods and wildfires.
  • Best Practices: Promoting lessons learned regarding the processing of data collected by sensors carried by drones in emergency scenarios.
  • Joint Trials: Facilitating mutual participation in trials involving the use of drones to test new solutions in real-world emergency environments.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Sharing resources, data, and code (where agreed) to support the development of skills and competencies among practitioners.

The two projects have already collaborated in some of these areas. In fact, both projects organized a joint trial last year in Innsbruck and collaborated on a workshop session during the DCNA conference last September.

About the Partners

CREXDATA (Critical Action Planning over Extreme-Scale Data) is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project. It focuses on developing a platform for real-time critical situation management, helping authorities anticipate and act upon unfolding emergencies -including weather disasters, health crises, and maritime hazards- through predictive analytics and advanced visualization.

COLLARIS-2, coordinated by the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, builds upon the success of the COLLARIS network. It is an international network of crisis management practitioners, research institutions, and public administrators dedicated to developing operational procedures for the optimal use of drones (UAV/UAS) in rescue missions, medical emergencies, and disaster mapping.

Looking Ahead

This partnership represents a commitment to reducing uncertainties in decision-making under extreme conditions. By combining CREXDATA’s predictive power with COLLARIS-2’s operational drone expertise, both projects aim to deliver more precise, real-time forecasts and action plans that can save lives and improve the efficiency of emergency response efforts across Europe.
