“How can artificial intelligence be used to increase societal resilience to climate changes and extreme natural events? “
The TEMA High-level webinar, themed “AI4Sustainability: How can artificial intelligence be used to increase societal resilience to climate changes and extreme natural events?,” was held online on November 15th at 10:00am (CET). The webinar AI4Sustainability, convened by The Lisbon Council in the scope of the Horizon Europe project TEMA, seeks to open the discussion about the roles of AI as a tool for environmental and climate action.
During the webinar, Antonios Deligiannakis, Technical University of Crete, Chaniá (TUC), highlighted the crucial role of AI within CREXDATA project. The key topics included the application of AI in text mining in the context of social media feeds, the optimization through the use of Reinforcement Learning, and the three use cases.
Weather Emergencies Use Case, where CREXDATA began investigating neural radiance fields (NeRFs) for rapid construction based on drone input, enabling 3-D scene visualization; Health Crisis Use Case and the exploration of Federated Machine Learning in a multi-country scenario for training epidemic models, and lastly the Maritime Use Case with the investigation of Deep Learning models for Complex Event Forecasting, were highlighted.
